T-Dongle Display Customization

The T-Dongle Biscuit can show your own image on its built-in screen. You can choose a different display for when the device is idle, scanning, or attacking.

This feature requires:

  • A LilyGo T-Dongle C5 running display-media-capable Biscuit firmware
  • The current Biscuit app for iOS or Android
  • A FAT32-formatted microSD card, inserted before the T-Dongle starts, only if you want to add your own images. Turning the screen off, the Biscuit logo, and the status text all work without a card.

Turn the screen off

Open the connected T-Dongle’s Settings, choose T-Dongle Display, and switch Display Enabled off. The screen stays dark until you switch it back on, apart from the Biscuit logo that appears briefly during startup. This works whether or not an SD card is inserted, and it is independent of the LED feedback setting.

Display choices

Open the connected T-Dongle’s Settings, then choose T-Dongle Display. Pick Idle, Scanning, or Attacking, then tap one entry in the list below it:

  • Biscuit Logo shows the built-in Biscuit artwork. This is the default.
  • Status Text shows READY, SCANNING, or ATTACK together with the current operation.
  • Each image you have uploaded appears as its own entry, so you can tap the one you want directly.

The Biscuit logo always appears first during startup, and a T-Dongle you have never configured shows the logo in all three states. If the SD card or selected file is unavailable, the screen safely returns to the built-in logo.

Add an image

  1. Select the Idle, Scanning, or Attacking tab you want to customize.
  2. Tap Add Media. The system photo picker opens only after this tap.
  3. Choose a still image. Animated GIFs are not accepted at the moment.
  4. Frame it in the 2:1 preview: drag to move, pinch to zoom, and twist with two fingers to rotate to any angle. Rotation nudges itself straight near quarter turns, and zooming or twisting never resizes the photo out from under you. You can slide the photo past the edge of the frame or shrink it below full width; anything the photo does not cover shows as black on the screen. Rotate steps a quarter turn, Fit shows the whole photo, and Fill returns to an edge-to-edge crop.
  5. A moment after you stop adjusting, the file size appears next to a small ON SCREEN thumbnail showing exactly what the T-Dongle will display.
  6. Tap Upload & Use and leave the T-Dongle idle until the transfer finishes.

The app receives access only to the item you choose. It does not request broad access to your photo library and does not ask for photo access when you merely connect to a Biscuit or open Settings.

Uploads are limited to a 20 MiB source and a 1 MiB device-ready file.

Media library

Your uploads live in the same list you pick from, each with its size and a trash button on the right — choose one on the left, remove it on the right. The counter at the top of the card shows how many of the available slots are in use. The app does not download images back from the T-Dongle for thumbnails.

File names may contain letters, numbers, spaces, underscores, and hyphens. If a name already exists, choose whether to replace it or keep both. Before deleting a file, the app shows which display states use it; those states return to the Biscuit logo after deletion.

Troubleshooting

Insert an SD card to add your own images — The card was not mounted at startup, so only the Biscuit logo and status text are available. Insert a FAT32 card, then restart the device. Display Enabled and both built-in choices still work meanwhile.

Firmware update required — Update the T-Dongle from the Biscuit app, then disconnect and reconnect so the phone rediscovers its Bluetooth services.

Device busy — Stop the current scan, attack, wardrive, portal, or firmware update before managing media.

Upload interrupted — Reconnect and retry within five minutes. The transfer can resume while the T-Dongle has not restarted.

Screen dark after a firmware update — Older firmware switched the screen off along with LED feedback. Update to the current firmware and restart the T-Dongle; the logo comes back on its own. You can also turn the screen back on with Display Enabled on this settings screen.

The LED toggle no longer turns the screen off — That is now a separate control. Use Display Enabled under Settings → T-Dongle Display; the LED setting only affects the LED.
